Oblique machine at the gym

This is one of the worst exercises if you have lower back issues. You kneel on a pad and using your lower body muscles twist back and forth. The twisting motion further damages herniated discs. There are much better oblique exercises, such as the bicycle maneuver that will not increase spinal damage.

Problems Using The Oblique Machine
by: Patrick Kallie

I have used the oblique machine one time at the gym ... and I promise that will be the last time that I ever use it.

I did about 3 sets of 8, and my back hurt for about 2 weeks after that. It seems that it makes you move in a very unnatural way. They won't have to worry about me using that machine anymore!
