abs after c-section

by marcy
(IL)

I had a C-section 6 months ago. I lost weight smoothly and quickly, from 176 to 126 in 6 weeks. I got up and moving right away after my surgery and I breast fed which helped me lose weight effortlessly. Now that I stopped breast feeding and my scar has healed I havent been able to get rid of this pouch right above my scar and it hurts sharp and deep in the muscles when I am working it, mostly when i am swimming. Above the scar is a fold of fat like pooch and the skin is numb there. I pinch it and it fells like the nerves are just not there. what is this numbness about? Should I worry about the pain? I do ball exercises, yoga pilate and running without any pain but always when I am swimming I feel this sharp pain at scar location and it feels like my abdominals could fall through.

Question for your doctor
by: Shelley

Marcy,
Unfortunately, that sounds like a question for your doctor. If you are having sharp pains, you should get that evaluated before continuing an exercise program.

However, I have a colleague who has specialized in helping women get their pre-pregnancy figure back. Her name is Holly Rigsby and she has written a book called Fit Yummy Mummy.

Here's an article she's written that may help answer your question. I'd also recommend checking out her website and getting her free report, "The Five Ways to Boost Your Metabolism."
