What to Look For When Buying an Exercise Bag

Going to the Gym? Need an Exercise Bag?

It’s amazing the types of exercise bags that are now made for working out at the gym! It is an investment that you have to make purchasing an exercise bag and these are just a few tips on what to look for.

First, decide what it is that you take with you to the gym for your workouts. Some examples are: clothes, shoes, water bottle, CD/MP3 player, cell phone, keys, exercise mat, etc.

It may be very important to you to have a large main compartment for your dry clothes and a ventilated wet compartment for your wet, sweaty clothes after you workout or swim. I know I used to swim laps with my roommate in college and remember taking plastic bags to put our wet suits in afterwards. It sure would have been nice to have a separate ventilated compartment to use! The GymSaq bag has this great feature.

Have you ever had a hard time finding your keys after working out at the bottom of your bag? I know I have! There are some bags that have small pockets on the inside or outside of the bag so you can easily locate your keys.

I love the new options that are now available to put your shoes in a separate compartment from your clothes and other items. It always seem that no matter how hard I try, the dirt from the bottom of my shoes gets on my clothes that are in the same bag.

If you are a runner, you’d love the SportSaq RunnerSaq. It has two compartments for shoes -- that way you can carry two different pair of shoes with you. This is especially helpful for those who run track. I remember those days of running track, needing to carry around both my shoes for longer distances and for sprints. Plus it has a removable waist pack system for your CD/MP3 player that includes a water bottle holder and cell phone pouch for convenience.

Yoga classes are becoming more and more popular. It is a great way to relax and stretch your muscles. But, isn’t is a pain to have to carry a gym bag and an exercise mat separately to class? That’s why I think the Gravis Yoga Bags are so convenient. You can easily strap on your exercise mat and off to class you go!

The most important this is to be consistent with a good exercise program. If you can afford a special exercise bag – great! If not, use that $5-10 duffle bag and just make sure you keep with your program!
